Since 1981 Professor Milcho Lalkov has headed the department of Byzantine and Balkan History in the History Faculty of the Sofia University. He has delivered lectures in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. He has written six treatises, over eighty essays and articles, and hundreds of popular publications in the press. In 1995, he was awarded the prestigious international Herder Prize. His untimely death put an end to his brilliant academic career.
Professor Dragomir Draganov teaches modern history at the History Department of the St. St. Cyril and Methodius University of Sofia. From 1980 to 1983, he was a lecturer at the Independent University of Madrid, Spain. He is the author of nine monographs on the history of Europe and 20th-century political systems, and of over 500 analytical articles in the mass media.
